At this time the Hampton Public Library is CLOSED to the public as are all city buildings.? All programming has been cancelled.? If you want a book you need to call the library or place a hold on the website.? At present librarians are willing to mail or provide curbside service your requested book, dvd or magazine.? All returns should be placed in the outside book drop so they can be sanitized properly. The Covid-19 Book Club for kids and young adults has begun.? You must read 500 pages to earn a fantastic reading award!? Ebooks are eligible for the book club. Further announcements will be posted here as well as on the Library's Facebook page.? The one blessing in all of this is the Library's eBooks!? If you need more information on how to download eBooks call the Librarians @641-456-4451. ?The Friends of the Hampton Public Library now have an online store! Thanks to Got U Covered.? The website is https://hamptonlibrary2019.itemorder.com? On the site there are some new t-shirts as well as older favorite designs.?? Only?about 51% of families read aloud daily to their young children. With that in mind, the?Hampton Public Library in partnership with First Bank Hampton is offering a program for children birth through Kindergarten.? The program " 1000 Books?before Kindergarten" encourages parents and guardians to regularly read to their young children.? By reading just one book a night, families can reach their 1000 book challenge in three years.? Reading to your children is the best activity to ensure their success in school and in life.? Contact the Library for details.? The program is free!
